The science

How cold‑air diffusion works.

Most home diffusers change the oil to move it — heating it, or mixing it with water. The Pillar moves air instead, and lets the oil stay what it is.

Nebulisation, not evaporation.

Inside the base, a pump draws in room air, filters it, and forces it through a narrow nozzle set into the oil bottle. The pressure shears the oil into droplets measured in nanometres — small enough to stay suspended in the air for hours, instead of settling on the nearest surface.

Because nothing is heated, the volatile compounds in the oil are released intact. That is why the scent reads the same at hour six as it does at minute one: no "burnt" top note, no sweet residue, no highs and lows.

"Cold air diffusion ensures consistent and subtle scenting without any highs or lows."

Particle size matters

Smaller droplets stay airborne longer and travel further on normal room air currents. That single fact explains most of the difference between diffuser types.

Where it comes from

The same machine hotels hide in the ceiling.

Luxury hotels scent lobbies with commercial cold‑air nebulisers ducted into the air‑conditioning — that's why the scent is even from the door to the lifts and never cloying. The Pillar is the same principle scaled to a room: a pump, a nozzle, and oil that never gets heated.

The oils

Hemluft oils are a blend of therapeutic‑grade essential oils and perfume‑quality fragrance oils, formulated to a density that runs cleanly through a nebuliser. They are IFRA‑compliant, alcohol‑free, and free of parabens, formaldehyde, colour additives and synthetic dyes. We do not test on animals.

They are pure and undiluted: not for skin, not for ingestion. Wash your hands if you get some on them.

30 ml bottle≈ 1–2 months at 4–8 h/day
Your own oilsCompatible. Best: thin, alcohol‑free essential oils or diffuser‑grade blends (citrus, lavender, eucalyptus, peppermint, tea tree). Avoid: thick resins (sandalwood, vetiver, patchouli, vanilla absolutes), carrier‑oil blends (jojoba, coconut, almond), anything water‑ or alcohol‑based. Third‑party oils aren't covered by the warranty

Pets, children and sensitivities

No flame, no heat, no standing water, so the usual diffuser hazards aren't there. The oils contain no phenols or ketones at levels considered harmful to cats or dogs. Start on low, keep the room ventilated, and if a pet has a respiratory condition, ask your vet first.

The blends are hypoallergenic and non‑toxic under IFRA standards. If someone in the house is fragrance‑sensitive, Amalfi Lemon is the lightest of the four.

Care

Run it up to 8 hours a day. Every 4–6 months — sooner if you run your own oils — swap the oil bottle for one with a little rubbing alcohol and run the Pillar for 10–15 minutes to clear the nozzle. Don't tip it upside down with a bottle attached.

Understand it. Then bring it home.
