Shipping & returns

Where do you ship, and what does it cost?

Free tracked shipping to the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand and Australia. Other countries are calculated at checkout.

How long does delivery take?

Orders leave the warehouse within 1–3 working days. Allow 5–15 working days for delivery to the UK, US, Canada, New Zealand and Australia; you'll get a tracking link by email the moment it ships.

Can I change or cancel an order?

Email hello.hemluft@gmail.com with your order number as soon as possible. Once an order is packed we can't guarantee changes, so please double‑check your address at checkout.

Do I pay import duties?

No — prices for the US, UK, Canada, New Zealand and Australia include duties and taxes. Nothing to pay on delivery.

How do returns work?

You have 30 days from delivery to try the Pillar in your own home. If it isn't for you, write to hello.hemluft@gmail.com with your order number and we'll confirm the returns address. Return shipping is at your cost (use a tracked service); the outbound shipping we covered isn't deducted. Send it back complete, in the original packaging, and we refund the full product price once it arrives and has been checked. One return per customer; we may deduct for damage or missing parts.

The Pillar

How big a room does it cover?

Up to 800 sq ft (about 75 m²) on the high setting — a typical open‑plan living and dining space. On low it's suited to a bedroom or study.

How long does the battery last?

About 30 hours on the high setting with the ambient light off, and about 12 hours with the light on. It also runs plugged in over USB‑C, so most people leave it on the charger and never think about it.

How loud is it?

34 dB at one metre — quieter than a library. You'll hear a faint pulse if you stand next to it, and nothing from the sofa.

The scent seems weaker than it was. What do I do?

The nozzle needs a clean. Put a little rubbing alcohol in the empty bottle, attach it, and run the Pillar for 10–15 minutes. Do this every 4–6 months and it will run like new.

What does the warranty cover?

Every Pillar comes with a 1‑year warranty against manufacturing defects — the pump, the electronics, the battery and the nozzle. You can extend it to 2 years for $70 when ordering; the extension carries the same terms.

It doesn't cover physical damage (drops, cracks, dents), liquid getting into the electronics, running water‑ or alcohol‑based liquids through the nozzle, opening or repairing the unit yourself, or normal wear such as the bottle seal. It also doesn't cover damage caused by third‑party oils: the Pillar runs happily on your own thin essential oils, but because we can't control their viscosity or purity, a nozzle or pump clogged by them isn't a manufacturing defect. Hemluft blends are formulated for this nozzle and keep you fully covered.

The warranty is for the original purchaser and needs the order number. A repaired or replaced unit carries the remainder of the original term.

How do I make a warranty claim?

Write to hello.hemluft@gmail.com with your order number, a short description and a video of the fault. We'll reply within one working day. If it looks like a defect, we'll give you the returns address; you post the unit back to us at your own cost (a tracked service, please). Once it arrives we inspect it, then repair or replace it at our discretion (replacements may be refurbished) and ship it back to you free of charge. We don't ship a replacement before the faulty unit is back with us — that's what keeps the warranty free for everyone. Most claims are turned around within ten working days of the unit arriving.

The oils

What are Hemluft oils made of?

A blend of therapeutic‑grade essential oils and perfume‑quality fragrance oils, formulated to the density a nebuliser needs. Alcohol‑free, IFRA‑compliant, no parabens, formaldehyde, colour additives or synthetic dyes.

How long does a bottle last?

At 4–8 hours a day, a 30 ml bottle lasts around 1–2 months. Higher intensity uses more.

Can I use my own essential oils?

Yes — that's what the empty refill bottle in the box is for. Pour in your oil, screw it on, go. Two things to know. First, viscosity matters: a nebuliser wants thin, water‑like oil. Second, because we can't control what goes in, damage from third‑party oils isn't covered by the warranty. Hemluft blends are formulated for this nozzle and are fully covered.

Which oils work best — and which should I avoid?

Run well: thin, alcohol‑free essential oils and diffuser‑grade aroma blends — citrus (bergamot, orange, lemon, grapefruit), lavender, eucalyptus, peppermint, tea tree, rosemary, pine and fir, and blends of therapeutic‑grade essential oils with perfume‑quality fragrance oils (which is how Hemluft blends are made).

Avoid: thick or resinous oils (sandalwood, vetiver, patchouli, myrrh, benzoin, vanilla absolutes), anything diluted in a carrier oil (jojoba, coconut, sweet almond, fractionated coconut), and anything water‑ or alcohol‑based such as room sprays or reed‑diffuser liquid. These mist poorly, clog the nozzle, and can damage the pump.

If you're unsure, tilt the bottle: if the oil moves like water it will run; if it moves like syrup it won't.

Are they cruelty‑free?

Yes. We do not, and will never, test on animals.

Safety

Is it safe around pets and children?

Yes, when used as intended. No flame, no heat, no water. The oils don't contain phenols or ketones at harmful levels and use no alcohol solvents. They're not for ingestion; if a pet has a respiratory condition, check with your vet first and start on low.

Will it leave residue on furniture or art?

No. The dry micro‑mist evaporates in the air rather than settling. That's the main practical difference from water‑based diffusers, which leave a damp film.

I'm sensitive to fragrance. Which oil should I start with?

Amalfi Lemon is the lightest. Run it on low for an hour before guests arrive rather than all day.
